We visited the beautiful Fraser Coast region. This region has some of the world’s most unique attractions. This is definitely another fantastic Queensland Holiday destination you must visit! From Hervey Bay we visited Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world. We also spent a day out on the calm glassy waters of the bay whale watching. These calm protected waters offer a natural playground for thousands of Humpback Whales each year. This was absolutely amazing! Today we visited Normanton, 680 km west of Cairns, and approximately 500 km north of mt Isa. Normanton was established in the early days on the Norman River by William Landsborough and was thaw the port for the Croydon Gold Rush. Some 30 kilometres to the south-west of the town is camp 119, Burke and Wills’ most northerly camp.
